Gifted For the Common Good - 1 Cor. 12

spiritual gift

In 1 Corinthians 12 verses 1-11, we learn that we are each given a spiritual gift that is special for us based on how we like to worship.  These are gifts that are assigned by the holy spirit and are used for worshiping God in the ways that are most natural for us.

Our lead pastor dives into the unique gifts that we are assigned by the holy spirit using examples from the Avengers (Captain America, the Hulk, Black widow) X-men, and other examples from television to make more sense of gifts and spiritual gifts.

The spiritual gifts that we receive may be based on our current circumstances of the stage of life.  God wants us to use these gifts to help each other serve God to the best of our abilities.  When Jesus put together his team of disciples it consisted of people that come from very different stages of life.

Our pastor talks about why people are leaving the church because they feel like they aren’t being cared for or we aren’t in fact using our gifts to bless others within the church.  Whether you have been to our church or not, if you are reading or listening to this podcast God is connecting us for a reason.  Please reach out to us because we would love to reach out and serve you wherever you are at.

God calls us all together as Christians throughout the world so that we can be a superhero for loving and blessing others throughout the world.

1 Corinthians 12- 1-11:

Now about the gifts of the Spirit, brothers, and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed. You know that when you were pagans, somehow or other you were influenced and led astray to mute idols. Therefore I want you to know that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.

There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.

Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous power, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues,[a] and to still another the interpretation of tongues.[b] 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.
